Here we go...

Before the 3D begins, I thought It'd be cool to post what I had so far. Which is the whole film blocked out in key poses, and little bits of animation here and there just to get a feel for how the end product would look. Animating in flash was so much harder than storyboarding in flash, for me. In fact, I'd say that flash is the perfect tool setting up leica reels. But animating straight into flash will still take some time getting used to . The instant playback button was really nice though.
So since I'm now required to animate at least 1/3 of the film in 3D (see two posts down) , the second act will be replaced. From the point where he pops out of the grave, to when he starts to head towards town. Which ironically enough, has the weakest blocking I feel. His poses are stiff and his model is all over the place, amongst other issues!

A buddy of mine at work came to my rescue and is graciously lending his time to modify the classic AM Rig to make it look like Remington. I know it wont look like him exactly, but it'll have to do. Besides, he's a bad- ass and he'll make it look cool anyway. Thanks dude!

So watch out! In about 11 weeks, this could possibly be something decent. Or THE most confusing, disjointed film you've ever seen! Either way, I'll be crying!

Heres the little bugger in 3D!

  4. Dude... I can't wait to see this one done. Saw the first animatic When I was in class 6 and loving the latest version. I thought you were going to do it in 2D though? Anyway, I think that doing it in 3D will do even more justice to your animation abilities. Good luck with it.

  10. so you haven't started blocking at all?? oh man, you d better block the entire short as quickly as possible and ideally not work in thirds I would say but turn in the entire short every week or at least 2 thirds. 11 weeks is really really short I think

  11. oh I just read your other post... Dam I can't believe your mentor didn't tell you in class5. We had been told a while ago that there wouldn't be any 2d anymore and I thought everybody was aware of it... Anyway, well make the most of it Bobby! If I had knows earlier I would have also tried to help you but with 11 weeks remaining you 'd better get cranking on the blocking and stuff. Are you gonna use Bishop then. Make his legs shorter in the first place, with some customisation you might be able to make him look a bit more like Remington. I have seen some great Bishop mods in the past

  14. I was so surprised to hear about all of this- I thought EVERYONE in the school knew about what you & Toby were up to when you were doing your layout. Well let me just say that you seem to be taking it pretty well and I'm glad you're doing what has to be done to get your certificate.

In the end though I hope you choose to finish the short in 2D at some point- it's definitely festival worthy even in the stage it's in.
